Bergama combines ruins with ambience

We had good luck at the otogar and caught a direct bus to Bergama. The buses here are wonderful. They serve snacks and drinks, but best of all they give you lemony stuff for your hands. They even stopped halfway to wash the bus.

Our luck continues with accommodation. We have the top floor of a restored Ottoman house to ourselves. The manager, Aydin, cracks silly jokes and has given us good tips. We went to Pergamum today for free and it was amazing to walk through all the ruins. Hours later, we are tired but happy. Tomorrow, we'll go to the market and the Red Basilica, one of the churches of the Apocalypse. Then on to Selcuk! Z.

p.s. The children in this town love to try speaking English while we try Turkish. They also love it when we take pictures. It's a good fit. Adults also like to introduce themselves. We are motivated to learn more small talk!
