The days are going by quickly

We are caught in the struggle to fit more towns in before we go, or to take it easy and linger a bit more where we are. If we can swing it, we will go to Safranbolu then İstanbul before flying to London on June 12.

Right now we are in Amasya ... we went from Barhal (northeast in the cold mountains!) to Trabzon and then along the Black Sea coast for a few days. We are now inland and back in hot weather in a place called Amasya. There is a winding river through the town with Ottoman houses lining it, all set against the backdrop of Pontic tombs carved into rock.

We looked at many Camiis (mosques) today, which was peaceful and relaxing. At the last one, two older men came up and insisted we follow them around while they explained the eccentricities of the mosque. Having shown us all its special features, we then shook hands and all walked home. We love the way people here take time to show off their cities and homes.

I doubt we will have too much İnternet time after today, so my blogging efforts will probably end soon. The trip has been amazing so we plan on savouring it as best we can!
