Şanliurfa is considered a holy city because Abraham was born here. The city has many places where we have seen people fervently praying, including the cave where Abraham was born. The most prominent area is a park that celebrates Abraham surviving a fall from the castle where he landed in a rose bed and fires turned into water with fish.

You can walk among the roses and two pools of sacred carp, which are very well fed. Apparently if you kill one you will go blind. These fish are living the good life.
We also went to
Harran, which dates back to Babylonian times. Roman ruins are starting to look pretty new!
